ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Tommeka Mason Kitchens. I am originally from Jackson, Mississippi, however, I now reside in Gluckstadt, Mississippi. I work at the largest healthcare institute in the State of Mississippi as an Executive Assistant. I am the wife to my wonderful husband of two years, Zerial, a mother to my amazing daughter, Tailyn and a bonus mom to my loving bonus son, Christian. I enjoy laughing, singing and being around my friends and family. I am an introvert at heart but once you get to know me, I can easily become a funny and talkative extrovert!
WHY I CHOSE MY PLATFORM
I chose the platform of Breast Cancer Awareness due to the fact that I’ve experienced breast cancer through close relatives. My aunt, who was like my big sister, passed away from breast cancer in 2009 and her passing hit my family pretty hard. At that time, I was not fully educated on breast cancer and even though her being diagnosed may not have been preventable, we could have taken the steps to be properly educated on the importance of yearly mammograms and self checks. I hope to be able to educate young women, especially women of color, on the importance of these self checks and yearly doctor visits.
