About my Platform

Platform: Education in the South is my platform.
As a former pre-k teacher and Pre-K director and now serving as a Dean of Operations for one of Jackson’s first elementary charter schools. For the last 10 years I’ve seen the changes to our education system here in the south! The “No Child Left Behind” campaign unfortunately left so many of our black and brown scholars behind. Forcing 3rd graders now to pass the Reading Gate Test when they can barely read!
Unfortunately our black communities aren’t as fortunate as surrounding communities or as other states to have the resources, funding and support needed to ensure our scholars are able to compete with their counterparts! In the south and Mississippi being the focus state we are so far behind on simple tools and resources needed to ensure our scholars win in the classrooms and at times are forced to use curriculums that aren’t beneficial for our black and brown scholars! Our black and brown scholars in the south deserve the opportunity to a quality education given them the tools needed for success!
